In honor of Darwin’s 200th birthday, The North Cambridge Family Opera (NCFO) Festival Chorus is presenting “Naturally Selected-A Darwin Bicentennial Revue” in the Cambridge Science Festival. This world premiere of “Naturally Selected-A Darwin Bicentennial Revue” includes a total of 24 songs about Charles Darwin and his theory of evolution by four contemporary composers writing from a unique musical perspective.

There is Richard Milner’s humor in “Darwin's Nightmare“ in which Darwin has a surreal vision of what might happen when he publishes his theory of evolution! In “Mutate!” David Haines gives an entertaining explanation of mutation and natural selection, and Graham Treacher describes the convergent evolution of cephalopod and human eyes in “Song of the Octopus.” Lauren Mayer’s “Undercover Creatures” is a song that tells of the many forms of camouflage used by various animals.

Lynne Carter directs the North Cambridge Family Opera Festival Chorus of 100 adults and children.
