TOP 5 REASONS WHY YOU CANNOT MISS THIS CONCERT…
1. The Master Singers of Lexington is probably the best kept secret east of Route 128 – help us celebrate the intriguing mix of cello and voice, and get in on the secret.
2. You will fall in love with Rhonda Rider, founding cellist of the Naumburg-award-winning Lydian String Quartet and Triple Helix, whom The Boston Globe calls “a glorious cellist,” remarkable for her “extraordinarily expressive and inventive playing.'
3. The Master Singers commissioned Berklee composer Marti Epstein to write a piece for chorus and cello, and the resulting Weather Patterns evokes the continually changing weather patterns in the wide open Western spaces of her childhood.
4. Pulitzer Prize winning composer William Bolcom wrote Lady Liberty for The Master Singers last spring – a piece inspired by the election of President Barack Obama – and we loved it so much we're bringing it back!
5. Anton Arensky was a student of Rimsky-Korsakov, was significantly influenced by Tchaikovsky, and became one of Rachmaninoff’s teachers – needless to say, his music is simply gorgeous!
