Deborah Henson-Conant is a Grammy-nominated, cross-genre, Blues-Flamenco-Celtic-Funk-Folk-Jazz dynamo. She plays electric harp, an instrument invented for her. She sings, she tells tall tales with the ease of a stand-up comic. She solos and wails like a rock guitarist (yes, on the harp). She turns music into theater and theater into something lyrical.

'I love Mother's Day shows because there's a heightened sense of shared experience.It's easy to fall into stereotypes of what we think Mother's Day should be when it's really about revisiting the crazy, wonderful - and sometimes ridiculous - experience of being someone's kid - and the equally bizarre life-experience of being someone's mother.

'My own mother was the most influential person in my life. I adore her and desperately struggle to avoid being like her. When you see my shows, you get a sense of what it was like growing up in the shadow of an Operatic Diva with size 12 feet, klutzy dramatic grace and a determination to change the world in tiny ways every day. Mostly by singing.'
