Trying to start your summer off right? On June 16th, the Town Criers will be doing just that, hosting an a cappella show that will bring together some of the nation’s top professional a cappella acts including Mister Tim, Five O’Clock Shadow, Duwende, and Overboard. Sound will be handled professionally by Liquid 5th Productions. Acapocalypse 2010 is a show that no music fan will want to miss.

The Town Criers’ participation in Varsity Vocals’ 2010 ICHSA tournament landed them as the country’s third ranked high school group overall, as well as the top HS group in New England, and both the top all-male and top student-lead HS group in the U.S. They have been nominated for 2010 ACA’s for “Favorite High School Group” and their 2009 album “Stimulus Package” was also nominated for favorite HS album.

The Mister Tim solo vocal show is a mix of live-looping, experimental tech-based vocal performance, and souped up Karaoke. Tim has won awards for his arrangements, original compositions, performances and recording projects, including runner-up and top American group at the 2003 Harmony Sweepstakes finals and various individual and song awards from Harmony Sweepstakes and the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards.

Duwende (Doo-WEN-day) is a six-person vocal band best known for its fiercely original, bass-and-beatbox-driven funk/pop style of music. The New York-based band made its mark with shows in traditional rock clubs and venues, but they've also appeared at music festivals, colleges, and special events all around the county. Major a cappella shows they've headlined include the East Coast Summit, SoJam, and AcappellaStock. In the 2002 Independent Music World Series, the editors of Billboard Magazine chose Duwende as one of the 'Top 6 Indie Acts in the Northeast.' Duwende's two most recent albums (2004's 'Radio Screaming' and 2007's 'Collective') won the 2005 and 2008 Best Pop/Rock Album and Best Pop/Rock Original Song CARAs.
Founded in the spring of 2006 by current director Nicholas Girard, Overboard is a male a cappella group from Boston, MA. Although Overboard's repertoire consists primarily of contemporary pop/rock songs, including covers from such artists as Rascall Flatts, Stevie Wonder and The Beatles, the group remains true to its a cappella roots and continues to perform classic selections such as 'Blue Moon,' 'In The Still of the Night' and 'Stand By Me.' Their latest album, “Help!” has won numerous recognitions from the CARAs and ACAs, and has gained them a significant following from fans across the country.
Also known as 'FOCS', Five O'Clock Shadow has vocally rocked audiences of all ages throughout the US and Japan, and in every kind of venue. Through their educational program FOCS has presented workshops and concerts to thousands of music students from coast to coast. FOCS also has a long list of distinguished corporate clients including Panasonic, LG Electronics, Clear Channel Entertainment, EMC Corporation, and Mohegan Sun. They've performed for the Boston Celtics, the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and the NFL Football Hall of Fame. Numerous TV appearances include VH-1's '//break.through/', FOX News, WB's Morning Show, A&E, ESPN, and many more. And MTV Online even called Five O'Clock Shadow 'the number one vocal pop band of the new millenium!'
