The NEC Chamber Orchestra, NEC’s conductorless orchestra, was founded in 2000 by double bassist Donald Palma, a founding member of Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Palma’s coaching is supplemented by other members of the NEC faculty including: Paul Katz, Roger Tapping, Hugh Wolff.

Music of the classical orchestra era by Handel, Haydn, and Mozart is at the core of virtually every program, along with an occasional baroque work. Tonight the program, coached by Palma, includes music by Arensky, Vanhal, Stravinsky.

Arensky: Variations on a theme by Tchaikovsky, Op.35a
Johann Baptist Vanhal: Concerto for double bass in D major
Stravinsky: Apollon Musagète (1947 version)
