Piano duo concerts are a rare event, and it's even more unusual to see two giants of jazz piano take the stage for a collaborative concert. Fred Hersch and Jason Moran of the NEC faculty are both consummate collaborative artists, making this evening of piano duos and solos an occasion not to be missed.

The concert concludes one of Moran's weeks of teaching at NEC, in his first year on the faculty, and comes a few months after receiving one of the MacArthur Foundation's prestigious Fellowships in recognition of his 'adventurous, genre-crossing jazz performances.'

Hersch, an alumnus of NEC who has taught here beginning in the 1980s, released one of the rare jazz CDs recorded in NEC's Jordan Hall, Let Yourself Go. Down Beat has called him 'one of the small handful of brilliant musicians of his generation.'
