First Lutheran Church, the Boston chapter of the American Guild of Organists, Emmanuel Music and Windsor Music will once again collaborate to offer a day of events commemorating the 326th birthday of the “greatest of all composers” -according to the New York Times. Former FLC Artist-in-Residence William Porter will lead an “intimate tour” of the organ’s inner workings for families at 10:30 a.m.

German-style gourmet lunch will follow, and the day continues from 1 p.m. until early evening with half-hour concerts by Porter, Christa Rakich, Heinrich Christensen, Brett McGuire, Andrus Madsen. FLC Minister of Music Bálint Karosi and FLC’s current Artist-in-Residence Exsultemus will conclude the day with the performance of Bach's Cantata BWV 35 “Geist und Seele wird verwirret” for solo organ with period instruments.

Parallel with the organ concerts, starting at 2 p.m. Emmanuel Music will present masterclasses on performance practice, and Bach interpretation. The evening will conclude with a 7 p.m. discussion and an 8 p.m. performance of Cantata BWV 12 “Weinen Klagen, Zorgen, Zagen” in English language. A Bach Birthday reception will conclude the day.
