Everyone is part of the music-making in the Guy Mendilow Band’s family concert on March 19th! Through colorful songs, stories and games, this fun multicultural group transports families on an ear-opening, interactive adventure to the places Guy and his band has called home, including Brazil, South Africa, Israel and the United States. In joyous songs from far and near, families meet colourful characters — including magical fiddlers, jungle creatures, elephant hipsters and a baffled bee — and some of the band’s most fascinating “members:” instruments like overtone singing (a technique allowing one singer to sing two or more pitches at the same time), the munnharpa (jaw harp) and the berimbau, a musical bow and arrow. It’s an exhilarating, international tour de force!
“The buoyant, life-affirming, sweetly acoustic music of Israeli-born Mendilow incorporates influences from across the Middle East, South America and beyond. It's a folk music of hope and affirmation, sophisticated in its delivery but easily accessible to listeners anywhere. ” — Chicago Tribune
