Student performers range in age from five to ninety-nine years old!
Throughout the afternoon, there will also be performances by many WCMS rock, jazz, and blues bands, the Winchester Middle School Jubilation Singers, and Winchester High School Chamber Singers. Music MAYnia attendees can also participate in a traditional May Pole dance. The popular lollipop raffle is filled with awesome prizes to delight kids. Bring your camera to catch all the delights of the Festival, including a chance to be Maestro Luigi Pepperoni, the infamous conductor. Music MAYnia and the fun activities will last throughout the afternoon, both inside and outside, rain or shine.
Executive Director, Laurie Russell, explains, “Music MAYnia has become one of WCMS’s signature fundraising events. The theme is “Providing Music for All.” Each year, WCMS awards more than $50,000 in financial aid, discounts, and subsidies to over 150 students. I am very proud of every performer who has chosen to participate in the Music MAYnia as a way to share their talent in order to help others also take music lessons,” says Russell. “This will be the largest number of Music MAYnia participants in the School’s history. Many local businesses have generously stepped forward to support Music MAYnia. Individuals may also sponsor specific performers.
