The Slava Chorale, conducted by Dr. G. Fredrick Guzasky, is comprised of eight professional voices, Donna Ames, Mark Anderson, Heather Gallagher, Daniel Rosensweig, Marilyn Shesko, Carol Cybulska, Scott Tooker, Jeff Barth. “Slava” is the Russian word for “glory,” and it is the ensemble’s intent to bring to the public the glory of Russian Orthodox Church music, Slavonic music, and folk music of Eastern Europe.
The group will perform “Light from the East – Icons in Song,” a series of a cappella compositions taking the listener through the Church Year, as well as selections of folk music. Some composers represented will be Chesnokov, Tchaikovsky, Archangelsky, Kastalsky, and Guzasky. Russian church music is known for its other-worldly beauty, expressivity, dynamic contrast, and variety. Come and enjoy a life changing musical experience.
