The concert at Copley Square, rescheduled from June when the first show in Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s 2011 ParkARTS live concert season was rained out, is presented for music lovers of all ages by Mayor Menino and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department as part of the 15th annual citywide ParkARTS program generously supported by Bank of America.
Rhode Island Sound is the most contemporary sounding group from Navy Band Northeast.
This ensemble entertains audiences with music ranging from rhythm and blues to classic rock. Performing a wide variety of styles from today’s Top-40, country sounds, and classic rock hits, the group presents a vibrant and unique sound.
Made up of professional Navy Musicians from around the United States, they have entertained literally thousands of audiences throughout the Northeastern United States. Their versatility and showmanship has kept them in great demand since their inception in 1974.
Navy Band Northeast is one of 11 official bands of the United States Navy.
Under the direction of Lieutenant Junior Grade Scott Mythen, the band is located on board Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island, and serves the military and civilian communities throughout the Northeastern United States.
