This high energy performance of traditional dances from West Africa includes welcoming and marriage ceremonies, as well as planting and harvest festivals from Mali, Senegal, Guinea, Nigeria and Burkina Faso. There will be two shows;
Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 7:30pm
The first show is at the Cronin Auditorium, adjoining the Bromfield School on Rte 111 (Massachusetts Ave) in Harvard, Mass.
Sunday, April 8, 2006 at 7:30pm
The second show is at the Regent Theatre at 7 Medford St. in Arlington center, right off Mass. Ave.
Both shows are fundraisers for the 'Build a School in Africa Project', a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is collaborating with Save the Children to build schools in southern Mali. 'Build A School' recently completed its first school in the remote village of Dialakoroba and is now raising funds to build a second school next fall.
Tickets for the Harvard show are only $10 for adults, $5 for students; the Arlingtopn performance is $15 for adults, $12 for students and seniors, with special advance purchase VIP tickets in Arlington for $25, which include preferential seating, an African buffet after the show and a chance to meet the performers.
