Please join us for this gift of excellent artistry dedicated to the glory of God, presented by violinist James Buswell and cellist Carol Ou.
Fellow NPC members James and Carol make beautiful music together—they’ve been married for 11 years. Bring a picnic and a blanket to sit on the grass; we’ll provide some seats as well. If it rains, we’ll move the concert inside our sanctuary.
BIOS:
A magna cum laude graduate of Yale University and Yale School of Music, cellist Carol Ou is known for her “meltingly melodic outpourings” (The Boston Globe) and a “wonderfully pure cello tone and incisive technique.” (The Strand Magazine) She has performed in New York's Merkin Concert Hall, Boston’s Jordan Hall, the Gardner Museum, the National Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan’s Presidential Palace, and the National Ukrainian Concert Hall in Kiev. Ou has been the chamber music director of the Heifetz International Summer Music Institute as well as a cello and chamber music instructor at the New England Conservatory of Music.
“James Buswell is a persuasive advocate, combining muscle, mellowness and musicality,” said London’s Daily Telegraph. Since his solo début with the New York Philharmonic at the age of seven, and his training at the Julliard School and Harvard University, Buswell has appeared with most of the major orchestras in the U.S. and abroad, and also with conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, George Szell, William Steinberg, Leonard Slatkin, Sir Malcolm Sargent, Zubin Mehta, Andre Previn, Erich Leinsdorf, Seiji Ozawa and Michael Tilson Thomas. He currently teaches at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and is frequently engaged as an Artist-in-Residence and Visiting Professor at Harvard University and Amherst College. His instrument is a Leveque Stradivarius of 1720.
