The program began in Sudbury 12 years ago and was created by Sudbury resident Ellen Hoffman, who teaches music at Sudbury and Stow preschools, and is a frequent guest speaker and performer at area libraries.
It is designed to not only teach children about music, but to explore other educational concepts through the use of music. A variety of percussion instruments are used, as are such teaching aids as pom-poms, puppets, rhythmic books, bears, and balls.
Open House Agenda
At the open house, Ellen will highlight some of the theories expressed at her library programs, including strategies about integrating rhythm and reading, music and movement, and instruments and imagination. A preview of the curriculum for the fall session will be offered. Fall classes in Sudbury will meet on Mondays.
Space is limited to ten people so parents should notify Ellen Hoffman if they intend to come. The Open House will be held at 21 Hawes Road in Sudbury. For directions and additional information please call (978) 443-4242.
All residents of Sudbury, and the neighboring communities of Framingham, Marlboro, Concord, Stow, Maynard, Wayland, and Acton are welcome to attend.
