The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., gave his most memorable speech at the Lincoln Memorial in August 1963.
The year 2013 marks the 50th Anniversary of King's oft-quoted words 'I have a dream.' Among his many dreams, King declared:
'I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.'
We also celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the founding of the Boston Children's Chorus, and are proud to present the 10th annual concert dedicated to the memory of Rev.
King.
This year's tribute reprises songs from the nine previous MLK concerts, along with new songs celebrating the 10th Anniversary.
Come hear songs and stories of struggle and liberation by the talented BCC singers expressing Rev.
King's dream of a peaceful and just society.
The Boston Children’s Chorus is an innovative arts education organization that unites area children ages 7–19 across differences of race, religion, and socioeconomic status.
Here they discover the power of singing, and transcend social barriers in a celebration of shared humanity and love of music.
Through intensive choral training and unsurpassed performing experiences locally, nationally, and around the world, the BCC enhances the 21st-century education and social development of youth as musicians, productive citizens, and future leaders.
NEC is the lead artistic partner of the Boston Children’s Chorus.
Through this partnership, BCC and NEC explore opportunities for joint research projects and support one another’s artistic and musical endeavors in a variety of ways, including the potential of current and former NEC students serving as fellows to the BCC.
The fellows gain hands-on teaching and conducting experience as they assist in carrying out BCC’s instructional and performance programs.
Tickets for this open dress rehearsal are $15 and are available in person at the NEC box office and online through the link below.
