Can you imagine a school without a library?

Can you imagine your children growing up in a home without books, and being miles from a library?

Can you imagine how your life would be different today if this was your childhood?

These are the issues facing the students that the Brookline Literacy Partnership (BLP) works with.

The BLP is currently partnered with the Mather School in Dorchester, a K-5 school of over 600 students.

More than 300 are learning English as a second language.

At Mather, the BLP builds both school-wide and classroom library collections, tutors selected students after school, and gives thousands of books away for students to take home and cherish.

Over the past four years, this project has grown from an idea in the mind of one high school student to a community-wide partnership within and beyond the Brookline community.

In order to continue and expand our programs, we need your help.

The IntelliJam is an uplifting day of world music where communities come tothether to celebrate literacy and learning.

It is a great concert for families, adults, children, students, educators, and passionate community members alike.

Performers include Zili Misik, a renowned Boston women's world music group; Songs for Ceilidh, a high-energy Celtic rock band; and the BHS Samba Drum Group.

There will be a reception immediately following the concert!
