Spring Fling presents a cornucopia of young musical talent and a celebration of the community that nurtures it.
Hosted by Jose Masso, celebrated radio personality of WBUR and WGBH, the performance will feature symphonic works rendered by orchestras of 1st-6th graders, as well as showcases of the students' learning expeditions.
This year's concert will honor Mark Churchill with the distinguished Citizen Artist award for his years of service to the school and to the musical community of Boston.
As a co-founder of the school and of the organization El Sistema USA, Churchill was influential in bringing the celebrated El Sistema music program to Conservatory Lab, and has been a devoted trustee of the school since its inception in 1999.
Conservatory Lab is a public charter school serving students from throughout the Greater Boston Area.
Children study orchestral music for 2.5 hours a day, integrated into an intensive academic curriculum.
Admission to the school is by lottery, and there is no tuition, audition, or entrance examination.
On April 7, the students of Conservatory Lab will bring music and learning to life on the stage of the Strand Theatre, in this family-friendly extravaganza.
Bring your friends, neighbors, and relations, and come ready to laugh and smile!
