An ensemble of composers/performers, genre-crossing EVIYAN--composer/clarinetist Evan Ziporyn, guitar virtuoso Gyan Riley, and ECM recording artist Iva Bittova--fuses folk and world roots with other musical styles and traditions to create a unique musical tapestry.

Tabla master Sandeep Das, of Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble, and bassist Blake Newman--who has appeared as a soloist at Carnegie & Alice Tully Hall and is a regular member of the Jeff Robinson Trio-- join EVIYAN for an evening of original works inspired by Eastern European folk music, Indian classical music, jazz, rock, cabaret, and minimalism.

Andy Rangell and Aaron Boyd
Pianist Andy Rangell and violinist Aaron Boyd, Concertmaster of the Tucson Symphony, perform works of the great 20th century Romanian composer George Enescu, who incorporates folk-inspired music of his native land in his works.

“Rangell… is a near-legendary artist of both prodigious technique and enormous inner resource… [He] is a throwback to the days of the poet-musician, to Liszt, Gottschalk and Nyíregyházi.”
Boston Music Intelligencer
