Presenters of Swingin' in the Fens are Berklee College of Music's Office of Community Affairs and Campus Engagement, the Fenway Civic Association, and City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department.
In the event of inclement weather, Swingin' in the Fens will be postponed to July 24, at 6:30 p.m.
The concert is part of Berklee's Summer in the City series presented by Natixis Global Asset Management (NGAM), one of the world’s leading asset managers, with more than 200 free outdoor concerts scheduled from May through September in neighborhoods throughout Metro Boston.
This year’s featured ensemble is the Jelani Bauman Quartet, featuring Berklee alumnus Jelani Bauman.
Bauman attended high school at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) where he studied with legendary jazz educator Alvin Batiste and later at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in New York.
His jazz quartet’s influences include various masters of American music, from Billy Strayhorn and Miles Davis to Isaac Hayes and Curtis Mayfield, and the group also draws on Bauman’s New Orleans culture and heritage.
