On October 4, Angel Olsen will take the stage, showcasing her unforgettable voice and compelling music that proves both fearless and vulnerable.
Signed to the independent record label Jagjaguwar this past spring, Olsen features folk tunes off of her acclaimed album, “Half Way Home.” “Her palette is a mixture of the great, lost singer Connie Converse…Bill Callahan's terrific and unsettling ability to shift between dourness and comfort, and Nina Nastasia's graceful lope,” says Pitchfork.com.
Folk group Pillars and Tongues will open for Angel Olsen.
The MFA also welcomes The Blow on October 11.
Khaela Maricich is a performance artist and pop musician.
Under the name, The Blow, she has released a number of music albums and toured nationally and internationally.
Working in music venues as well as art spaces, her performances explore and exploit the conventions of each format.
Her recent work interweaves elements of narrative performance art with traditional pop-show dynamics.
As Maricich comments about her work on the album with Melissa Dyne, “These songs trace the arc of our somersault into the unknown, holding hands, going backwards through the air, watching to see where we land.” Austin, Texas natives Love Inks will open for The Blow.
