The BIN was established to promote and ensure that the best in contemporary music education is accessible to musicians across the globe.
The summit culminates with a concert featuring alumni, former BIN students, and current Berklee students performing in the diverse styles and cultures represented by the BIN’s members, which include schools in Ecuador, Greece, France, Japan, Malaysia, Spain and South Korea.
Faculty members Rebecca Cline, Alain Mallet, Scott DeOgburn and Javier Limon will lead the students.
Through its relationships, Berklee has discovered talents such as Anat Cohen, renowned clarinetist and saxophonist who attended BIN partner the Rimon School in Israel before earning her degree from Berklee; and guitarist Leandro Pelligrino, 2013 Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition winner, who attended BIN member Conservatorio Souza Lima in Brazil before graduating from Berklee.
In addition to celebrating 20 years of the BIN, the concert will also herald further expansion of the network.
Six new educational partners in Australia, Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Hong Kong, and Puerto Rico joined this year, bringing the number of members to 19.
The BIN now comprises institutions in the U.S., Canada, Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australasia, and is the largest global network in contemporary music education.
