Brookline Music School Faculty Concert 'Flowers, Etiquette, and a Boat Race' with Brookline Music School Faculty Elizabeth Chladil on piano and Elizabeth Sterling, soprano, perform works by Milhaud, Argento, Bach, and Rossini.

Elizabeth Chladil (piano) encourages her audiences and students to embrace a lifelong participation in music through her work as an active performer, teaching artist, and piano instructor.

She has performed in the United States and internationally including recitals in France and Japan.

An enthusiastic teaching artist, Elizabeth invites audiences to form personal connections with live music through interactive workshops.

She especially enjoys collaborating with schools to present workshops relating students’ academic studies to chamber and solo music.

A dedicated teacher of private and group lessons, Elizabeth encourages musical artistry by balancing spontaneity with patient attention to detail.

She currently serves on the faculty of Boston area schools including Brookline Music School, Powers Music School, and St.

Paul’s Choir School.

She earned an M.

M.

degree in Piano Performance from the Longy School of Music of Bard College and a B.

M.

degree in Piano Performance from Ball State University.

Elizabeth Sterling (soprano) is an active performer and voice teacher in the Boston area, (formerly mezzo-) soprano Elizabeth Sterling’s vocal skills have led her through varied repertoire ranging from the Baroque to the Modern.

Elizabeth earned her M.M.

in Voice Performance from the Longy School of Music of Bard College in May 2013, where she received the Ambassador Assistantship, and her B.M.

in Voice Performance from Baldwin-Wallace College (now University), where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.

While in school she performed scenes and roles such as Balkis in Randall Thompson’s Solomon and Balkis, Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Rosina in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, Josephine in H.M.S.

Pinafore, and Nancy in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring.

Elizabeth's skill extends also to art song and chamber music; her most recently-performed sets include John Harbison’s Mirabai Songs, Dominick Argento’s Miss Manners on Music, Milhaud's Catalogue de fleurs, Rossini’s La Regata Veneziana, and Manuel de Falla's Siete Canciones Populares Españolas with guitar.

In addition to teaching Semi-Private Voice Lessons at Tufts University, Elizabeth also serves as soloist and section leader at the Congregational Church of Needham, and teaches private voice lessons at the Newton Music Academy.
