Called Madison, Wisconsin's 'musical success story of 2013', Before PHOX formed, a majority of them took part in Zach Johnston's album called Sonntag which was written in San Francisco, but recorded in Wisconsin by PHOX drummer, Davey Roberts.
Some time later while Matt Holmen was playing with Davey Roberts, Matt Roberts (keys), and Jason Krunnfusz (bass) in Baraboo, Wisconsin, he was asked to play a one-off show (Boo Bash, May 5, 2011) and agreed, but was without songs or a singer.
Monica Martin joined the unofficial group for said show and they played cover songs/songs off the Sonntag record as they were all familiar.
Moving forward, Monica wrote lyrics and melodies, and the group arranged the songs from their first two EP's and their self-titled first record release.
As part of the Fenway Recording Sessions, Phox will be playing at the Brighton Music Hall.
