The event will include a panel discussion with several prominent hip-hop/ urban music industry executives and showcase performances by selected Berklee hip-hop/urban artists.
Ethiopia Habtemariam is the president of Motown Records, the executive vice-president/head of urban music for Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), and one of the highest ranking black woman in the music industry.
At Motown, she oversees the recording careers of such favorites as Stevie Wonder and Ne-Yo.
As executive vice-president and head of urban music for UMPG, she's responsible for finding and developing songwriters, artists, and producers for the urban music department and has signed superstars such as multiplatinum recording artist and songwriter Chris Brown, breakthrough artist and songwriter Keri Hilson, and gold recording artist and songwriter Ciara.
Habtemariam also oversees one of the hottest urban rosters in music, with artists such as Mary J.
Blige, Prince, 50 Cent, Eminem, and Jill Scott, among many others.
At this event, she will be part of a panel on the state of hip-hop/urban music.
