Most notably known as the bassist of Vampire Weekend, Baio recently released his debut LP The Names on Glassnote.
On the record, he splices and distorts myriad clicks, rattles, and yelps like a mad scientist, molding everything into dance-pop vignettes.
On top of his eclectic concoctions, he lays his surprisingly timid vocals into the world of electro.
Stereogum raved about the track “Sister of Pearl,” calling it an “undeniably catchy song about being yourself and not caring about what others think.” Spin also remarks on the song’s “straightforward and easygoing feel [that] is elevated by a stuttering, harpsichord-sounding synth that lends the track an unusual, unexpected energy.”
