Tunes, Tales, and Tricksters:
Can music tell a tale?
Join us for an afternoon of classical music inspired by elements of storytelling from narrative and setting to characters and dialogue with works by Strauss, Mozart, Karim Al-Zand, Somei Satoh and more.
A crafty trickster comes to life, drums tell stories from Polynesian folklore, musical instruments have conversations, and a viola sings a lullaby.
Instrument Petting Zoo:
An instrument “Petting Zoo” will follow the performance in the Library's beautiful outdoor Children's Garden.
Children will be able handle and play orchestral instruments as guided by the musicians, and will be encouraged to touch, blow, pluck, bow, and strike.
