ABOUT STEVESONGS
Since giving up his job as a business consultant in the late 1990s to pursue his love of music and passion for teaching children, Steve Roslonek (creator and namesake for SteveSongs) has been touring the country and developing a vast repertoire of family-friendly tunes that he has recorded over five albums. He has won two Parents’ Choice Gold awards.
Marvelous Day! (released August 22, 2006) is a collection of 16 tunes for parents and children ranging from funky rock to ska to flute-y folk and power pop, all of which invite sing-along participation for the whole family. The CD also blends a sophisticated mix of instruments, thanks to longtime SteveSongs band mates Anand Nayak (Daisy Mayhem Band) and Matt Steckler (Dead Cat Bounce). Children helped write three of the original songs on Marvelous Day!. “Water Cycle” was created with a 2nd grade class in Killingly, CT, “Ducks Hatching” originated in a 3rd grade class in New Rochelle, NY, and “Spyrtle the Turtle” sprang from a songwriting workshop with 3rd graders in Atlanta, GA. “Music and songwriting help these students connect with the material they’re learning in class,” Roslonek explains. “I’m endlessly fascinated by the different ways that children learn and how music can help make the curriculum interesting and engaging for kids.”
