Pianist Robert Levin—internationally renowned for playing Mozart with a freshness and spontaneity that make him seem newly-minted, and for presenting new works with an insight and mastery that make them seem like instant classics—offers a tour de force: Mozart’s thrilling Concerto No. 25 in C major paired with a new concerto by Thomas Oboe Lee based on unfinished Mozart fragments. The program opens with Tchaikovsky’s charming and opulent homage to Mozartean character dances, drawn from his Suite No. 4 for orchestra. Celebrate Mozart’s 251st birthday with Tchaikovsky, Lee, and Levin!
Special Artists-in-Residence Program: Composer Thomas Oboe Lee will join Mary Ann Nichols for a special pre-concert lecture one hour before each concert. Lee and Levin will join Steven Lipsitt for a post-concert discussion immediately following each concert.
