Nine-time Grammy-winning saxophonist Paquito D'Rivera brings his renowned Afro-Cuban reed stylings to PEM with the Boston Horns Big Band. Led by Per Onerud, Boston Horns Big Band plays modern big-band jazz mized with bebop and swing and spiced with Latin flavors!

The band is well known among music lovers for its roaring sound and is one of the hottest orchestras to experience. This special concert also features Garret Savluk on lead trumpet, Salem resident Henley Douglas Jr. On soxophones, and more than a dozen of the region's finest jazz musicisans.

D'Rivera is a recipient of the National Medal for the Arts and is a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master. He won the Grammy Award for Best Insturmental Composition in 2005 for his Merengue, as performed by cellist Yo-Yo Ma. In 2004 and 2006, the Jazz Journalists Association honored D'Rivera as the Clarinetist of the Year.
