Acclaimed indie-folk songstress May Erlewine joins Family Folk Chorale for a very special event in our Guest Artist series.
A staple of the vibrant Midwest folk scene, May Erlewine is one of the most prolific and passionate songwriters of her generation.
Family Folk Chorale is the Boston area’s premier intergenerational chorus, led by award-winning Artistic Director Chris Eastburn and backed by some of Boston’s most versatile musicians, including Gary Backstrom on guitars; Jonah Backstrom on drums; Paul Hatem on guitar; and Quinn Eastburn on fiddle and keyboard.
Our concerts are described by audience members as a musical 'experience” or “happening” that hails to a time when live music was part of the daily fabric of home and community.
It's a great experience for people of all ages – we provide lyrics, opportunities to sing and dance along, refreshments, and a floor seating area up front for young children.
This concert will also feature the winning song of our 6th Annual Songwriting Competition.
“I’ve arranged over 450 songs for Family Folk Chorale, and May Erlewine’s brilliant songcraft stacks up against the likes of The Beatles, James Taylor, and other great songwriters of our time.
The melodies are beautiful and haunting, the lyrics are inspirational and come from a deep soulful place, and it’s clear that she writes these songs because she must.” -Artistic Director Chris Eastburn
