The First-Ever Landmarks Festival at the Shell Comes To The Esplanade This Summer

Boston Landmarks Orchestra, Charles Ansbacher conductor, Presents A Taste of the Opera with the Boston Lyric Opera at the Hatch Shell on August 15

Who: Boston Landmarks Orchestra, in partnership with Boston’s Classical Radio Station 99.5 WCRB and in collaboration with the Boston Lyric Opera, and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, presents Landmarks Festival at the Shell.

What: A Taste of the Opera, the sixth of nine concerts, will feature the Boston Lyric Opera with guest soloists Joana Mongiardo, soprano, Matthew DiBattista, tenor, and David Cushing, bass. Singers will perform opera favorites as well as selections from the BLO’s 2007-08 season, including La Bohème, The Elixir of Love and The Abduction from the Seraglio.

When: Wednesday, August 15 at 7 p.m.

Where: The Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade

Why: Conductor Charles Ansbacher founded the Boston Landmarks Orchestra in 2001 to perform free concerts celebrating historical, geographical and architectural settings. By presenting exceptional music performances in significant settings, the Orchestra fosters a broad appreciation of classical music while bringing together the area’s diverse communities.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

About Charles Ansbacher, Conductor and Artistic Director:
The orchestra’s founding director, Charles Ansbacher, has been bringing free classical music to diverse audiences around the world for over 35 years. Whether in the parks of Colorado Springs, where he led the orchestra for almost twenty years, the beloved concert halls of Vienna, or in economically troubled countries across Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Maestro Ansbacher has proven that he has a keen ability to organize the myriad elements necessary to bring music to broad and diverse audiences.
