Led by artistic director Stefano Marchese, the series will bring together a mix of different cultures of the world through contemporary jazz sounds from Latin, Funky, Mediterranean, and World music.
Jazz in the Park 2019 will take the audience on a music journey of inclusion, equity and diversity that makes jazz music the perfect vehicle for this blend.
Inspired by this event, picnic basket options will be available for purchase online at the Boston Public Market “Mercato” website; upon pre-ordering, they can be picked up by their information desk.
We trust this music and food experience will be the perfect night out for families, friends, neighbors in and around the North End/Waterfront neighborhood!
The NEMPAC Jazz in the Park | Summer Concert Series 2019 is possible due to the generous support from our co-presenters that include the Century Bank & Trust Co.

MIXCLA - Tuesday, July 9th, 2019

MIXCLA combines sounds from the mountains of Chile, the traditions of Japan, and the fires of Cuba, to achieve a truly unique Latin jazz experience.
MIXCLA is led by composer/pianist and singer Zahili Gonzalez Zamora with Gerson Esteban Lazo Quiroga on bass and Takafumi Nikaido on percussion.
Gabrielle Goodman - Tuesday, July 16th, 2019

Gabrielle Goodman showcases jazz, R&B, classical, as well as gospel voice style.
She is a professor of music at the Berklee College of Music.
She has performed with Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau, Nancy Wilson, and Roberta Flack who has praised Goodman as “one of the finest singers around today.”
Scanzonati - Tuesday, July 23th, 2019

Scanzonati performs a combination of charming and soulful vocal textures with sophisticated harmonies and arrangements to present incredibly rich and well-written Italian music infused with Mediterranean lyrical finesse.
This band was founded by singer-songwriter Stefano Marchese and bass player and Berklee Professor Andrea Pejrolo.

Sawaari brings the most ancient and fascinating Indian, Arabic, and North African sounds to The Greenway!
Sawaari explores the nexus of Indian taals, Arabic maqams, and trance music from North Africa and Italy, fully encompassing the varied interests and backgrounds of its band members Fabio Pirozzolo (vocals and percussion), Jussi Reijonen (oud), Mike Rivard (sintir and double bass), and Amit Kavthekar (tabla).
