A debut chamber music program crafted for the North End Music & Performing Arts Center combining African-American, European, Russian, and Jewish composers, Voices of the Resilient is a uniquely programmed event dedicated to resilience and overcoming.
The Kurganov-Finehouse Duo and narrator Tatum Robertson partner with NEMPAC for an evening where spoken word performance poetry is interspersed with musical numbers.
The evening will weave a narrative of cultural togetherness, hope, and overcoming in its many forms.
This event is a call to live life to the fullest and to give rise to diverse artistic voices across the ages.
Perfect to ring in NEMPAC’s new headquarters – this will be the first official concert in the 50 Tileston Street newly opened facility.
From where do we draw our resilience?
When we reflect on this program, we imagine the hardships that many of these composers went through – And yet, or perhaps precisely because of their private struggles, they have left us with something that serves to lift us up from our own.
Filled with hope, as we all are coming around the bend of this pandemic, this program is designed to greet an optimistic future with a variety of beautiful colors, emotions, and rhythms.
It’s a call to arise and live life to the fullest once more.

Kurganov-Finehouse Duo
Belorussian-American Violinist Daniel Kurganov’s recent seasons have included concerts at BargeMusic (NYC), The Roerich Museum (NYC), Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), Harvard Musical Association, and concert tours of Japan.
In Sion, Switzerland, he was invited to perform on a violin rescued from Auschwitz for The Violins of Hope project.
A passionate teacher, Daniel founded the Boston Violin Intensive and runs an educational YouTube channel with 35,000 subscribers.
Upcoming recordings include an album under Orchid Classics of works by Messiaen, Lera Auerbach and Richard Beaudoin, as well as the complete Brahms Violin Sonatas, pairing a Guarneri violin with an original 1860’s Streicher piano.
Critically acclaimed pianist Constantine Finehouse has performed extensively in the U.S.
and abroad, including Salzburg, Trieste, London, St.
Petersburg and Odessa.
As a renowned interpreter of works by William Bolcom, his collaboration with American violinist Philip Ficsor, The Bolcom Project, included an Albany Records 2-CD set and a national tour.
Fanfare praised the recording as “indispensable to any serious collector with an interest in later 20th-century duo repertoire for violin and piano.”
Tatum Robertson
Originally from New Orleans - Tatum Robertson - is currently pursuing a Performance Diploma in voice at Boston University.
Tatum graduated with her Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School and received her Master of Music with a focus in opera from Longy School of Music.
Upon her graduation from Longy School of Music, she was awarded the Roman Totenberg award for her musical achievements and potential for excellence in the arts.
Tatum spent several summers at Aspen Opera Theater where she appeared in weekly opera scenes at Wheeler Opera House.
In recent seasons, she has enjoyed covering roles for local companies like Mass Opera and Boston Opera Collaborative.
Tatum hopes to continue to engage diverse audiences and individuals with the warmth of her spirit through her performances and teaching.
