The concert will feature a variety of Brazilian music genres – from Southeastern choro, samba and bossa to Northeastern baião, frevo and ijexá – embedded in jazz style improvisations and contemporary arrangements.
Interpreted on various flutes, the repertoire mixes original compositions and music by the great Brazilian masters - from Pixinguinha to Antônio Carlos Jobim to Hermeto Pascoal.
Come early and socialize with local artists represented in our December Small Works show.
The December Small Works Reception will take place from 1 pm to 2 pm and is open to all.
Suggested donation for the jazz show is $10, $5 for students.
The Jazz on Sunday Series is led by Neil Olmstead, Berklee College of Music, Chair of Jazz at The W Gallery.
