King’s Chapel roster of professional singers presents works for double choir, revealing true stereo sound in the church’s historic 1754 sanctuary. Heinrich Christensen conducts.

For its season finale, the King’s Chapel Choir, under the director of Heinrich Christensen, turns pandemic lemons into lemonade: it will perform as a double choir with each choir spread out and facing each other in the upstairs gallery.

This spaced configuration – necessary to protect singers after the church re-opened last fall– offers a rich and blended sound that is unexpected from a choir whose members are used to singing close together.

Performed in King’s Chapel’s historic 1754 sanctuary, the program includes J.S. Bach’s “Komm, Jesu Komm,” Ralph Vaughan Williams Mass in g minor, and Steven Stucky’s “Three New Motets.”
