For its season finale, the King’s Chapel Choir, under the director of Heinrich Christensen, turns pandemic lemons into lemonade: it will perform as a double choir with each choir spread out and facing each other in the upstairs gallery.
This spaced configuration – necessary to protect singers after the church re-opened last fall– offers a rich and blended sound that is unexpected from a choir whose members are used to singing close together.
Performed in King’s Chapel’s historic 1754 sanctuary, the program includes J.S. Bach’s “Komm, Jesu Komm,” Ralph Vaughan Williams Mass in g minor, and Steven Stucky’s “Three New Motets.”
