This hearing will feature an unprecedented array of tunes and songs from Ireland, Scotland...and from the minds and hearts of Matt & Shannon Heaton, Hanneke Cassel & Keith Murphy.
Matt & Shannon Heaton - With engaging stage presence and masterfully-crafted music, Boston-based Matt and Shannon Heaton offer well-travelled Irish music from the heart.
Steeped in sessions in County Clare and brewed in the acoustic music scenes of Chicago and Boston, their flute/guitar/bouzouki instrumentals and sweet husband-and-wife harmony singing draw deeply from the Irish tradition.
Shannon was named Massachusetts Traditional Artist Fellow in 2016, and she hosts the culture podcast Irish Music Stories.
Matt has performed with countless ensembles, including the Karan Casey Band, Boys of the Lough, and Robbie O'Connell; he is an active performer for children and families; and he fronts surf-rock band the Electric Heaters.
'Their playing is masterful and inventive, their arrangements city-smart and spacious.
Still, they never forget that Irish music is, at its heart, a neighborly form, meant for sharing, not showing off.' - The Boston Globe

Cassel & Murphy - Effervescent and engaging, Boston-based fiddler Hanneke Cassel's style fuses influences from the Isle of Sky and Cape Breton Island with Americana grooves and musical innovations, creating a cutting-edge acoustic sound that retains the integrity and spirit of the Scottish tradition.
Her music is a blend of the contemporary and traditional, described by the Boston Globe as 'exuberant and rhythmic, somehow wild and innocent, delivered with captivating melodic clarity and an irresistible playfulness.'
Newfoundland-born guitarist Keith Murphy began absorbing his native musical languages - folksongs, ballads and dance music - from an early age.
A proficient multi-instrumentalist, he has long applied considerable energy to the rhythmic side of music, becoming a valued band member and highly sought-after sideman on guitar, mandolin and foot percussion.
