The concert begins with arias from Mozart’s much beloved The Marriage of Figaro, followed by Viemeister playing Mozart’s mature Sonata in B-flat Major, KV 570. Milham and Viemeister then perform the greatest of Schumann’s cycles of Lieder, the Dichterliebe, or The Poet’s Love, Opus 48. This musical setting of sixteen poems of Heinrich Heine tells a story of romance, love, loss and redemption, all from the point of view of a sensitive young poet. More details about this special 'Community MusicMakers' concert will be posted on the LiveARTS website at www.fusf.org/livearts.
Edwin Milham performs in concerts actively in the southern New England area and teaches on the faculties of Bridgewater State College and the Franklin School for the Performing Arts. He also serves as choirmaster at Trinity Episcopal Church in Wrentham. A published author of scholarly texts on music, Jane Viemeister has performed as soloist and as a collaborative pianist in the southwestern United States and New England. In addition to teaching at Bridgewater State College, she chairs the piano department at the South Shore Conservatory.
'This is a lovely, stress-free activity for Mothers' Day,' says Laura Clayton, LiveARTS artistic director. 'Franklin is fortunate to have such a gifted and well-versed singer as Ed Milham in town -- just the kind of local talent our organization likes to promote with our Community MusicMakers concerts.'
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth and seniors.
