The Boston Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce a neighborhood concert at the East Boston Greenway Caboose on August 14 at 7:00 p.m. Part of the ParkARTS summer program lineup, the show will feature the unique sounds of The Holmes Band, favorites of the Massachusetts jam-band scene.

Combining elements of R&B, soul, and funk with an old school flavor, the Holmes Band is an eight-piece ensemble specializing in a range of instruments from organ and piano to saxophone, tuba, and trombone. Known for their jam-band style improvisations, members of the group have performed with hip-hop acts Cypress Hill and KRS-One, as well as the Jazz Mandolin Project and Charles Neville.

Located near the waterfront in East Boston, the Greenway is the home of a 40-ton blue train caboose donated to the Boston Parks and Recreation Department by Conrail, a memorial to the Greenway’s past as a railroad corridor. This three-mile park features playgrounds, biking paths, and a community garden. An ideal place for walking, riding, and recreation, the Greenway will eventually connect the East Boston Piers to the rest of the waterfront neighborhoods of East Boston.
