'This season looks to be our most exciting performance series to date, and a great way to experience classical music right in our neighborhood,' said LiveARTS Artistic Director Laura Clayton. 'If you are new to the classical music scene, Triple Helix is a high-energy concert featuring the Boston area's best artists and is not to be missed.'
When Triple Helix musicians — violinist Bayla Keyes, cellist Rhonda Rider, and pianist Lois Shapiro — joined together in 1995, The Boston Globe described the results of their union as “the livest live music in town,” with “wildly imaginative, emotionally charged, virtuoso playing” that was “sophisticated in musical detail, wholeheartedly interactive, uninhibited in
emotion, and touched by a special grace.” The ensemble has become known as
one of the best piano trios on today’s musical landscape.
In their program for LiveARTS, 'Embracing the Romantic Spirit: Music of the Schumanns and Brahmns,' the trio invites the audience into the post-Enlightenment world, a world where the arts became suffused with intensely personal expressions. Through intimate letters, diary entries, and music which itself reveals the composers' deepest feelings, the trio will bring listeners into the heart of this richly imaginative time. The Los Angeles Times noted, 'Triple Helix is clearly something special.' LiveARTS is privileged to host these nationally acclaimed players, also artists-in-residence at Wellesley College.
LiveARTS is supported in part by a grant from the Franklin Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. We are a non-profit, non-sectarian affiliate of the First Universalist Society of Franklin. All events are handicap accessible.
