In celebration of the 10th Annual National Day of Puppetry, the Puppet Showplace
Theatre (PST) and the Boston Area Guild of Puppetry (BAGOP) will present an event on April 26. This event will take place at the Puppet Showplace Theatre in Brookline Village from 10am to 4pm.

The National Day of Puppetry was instituted by the Puppeteers of America in 1998 with the purpose of promoting and elevating the art of puppetry through awareness and education.
Free workshops, demonstrations and hands-on activities in the art of puppetry will be presented throughout the day.

Two performances of the Perry Alley Theatre’s award winning show, Snow White & Other Tales will be performed at 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Admission to the Snow White performances is $10.00 general admission, $8.00 for PST members.

The Puppet Showplace Theatre is proud to have recived a grant from the Brookline Commission for the Arts to support this event. The Brookline Commission for the Arts is a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. The Day of Puppetry is also sponsored by many local business neighbors, including Inner Space, Chobee Hoy Associates, Ligris & Associates LLP, Urban Realty, and Dr. Hale Azar.

The Boston Area Guild of Puppetry works to promote, encourage and generate awareness of puppet, mask, and object theatre to the local community. BAGOP provides a liaison between professional puppeteers with community and educational organizations in the greater Boston area and through hosting special puppetry related events.

The Puppet Showplace Theatre is a non-profit performing arts organization committed to excellence in puppetry as a theatrical experience that educates, enlightens, and entertains audiences of all ages. Established in 1974, PST is the oldest permanent theatre for puppetry in New England, and one of the four oldest in the country. PST shares this vital, living art in all its forms from around the world, both traditional and contemporary, and encourages performing arts as a community resource that can change lives for the better.

The National Day of Puppetry activities are designed for families with children ages 3-10. All workshops and puppetry related activities are free of cost to the public. Admission to the Snow White performances is $10.00 general admission, $8.00 for PST members.

Reservations for these performances are strongly recommended. The Puppet Showplace Theatre is located at 32 Station Street, Brookline MA 02445, across from the Brookline Village T Stop on the Green D Line and is wheelchair accessible.
