Historic Newton Walks: East Parish Burying Ground -- Art, History, and the Environment
Come stroll through the oldest of Newton's three historic burying grounds and discover the beauty of what is arguably the Puritans' only art form -- gravestone carvings -- as well as the natural beauty of the place.

Learn what the burial ground can tell us about shifting attitudes toward death and advances in technology. Observe the effects of changing environmental factors at the burying ground, and see what is being done to preserve and restore it.
