Start your child’s school vacation week off outdoors at one of Massachusetts most historic and famous state parks. Join park staff at the Thoreau house replica for Thoreau for Kids, a program which introduces children and their families to Henry David Thoreau and his stay at Walden Pond.

We will walk ½ mile out to the original location of Thoreau’s cabin so make sure to dress for the weather (coat, hat, gloves, boots, etc). During the program children and their families will have the chance to participate in Park Passport day and pick up their own DCR Park Passports.

The free Park Passport program, part of the national No Child Left Inside initiative, is open to anyone and everyone who visits a participating park. 76 state parks in Massachusetts currently participate in this program. Participants receive a colorful park passport and can chronicle their experiences in participating parks with individualized stamps.
