Owl Prowl in Natick
I took my 14 yr. old daughter and 10 yr. old grandson on the owl prowl Saturday night. Indoors, before the 'prowl', we learned a lot about local owls -- their size, nesting habits, coloration, and their calls. We then went out into the woods and the guide tried 'calling up' both screech owls and great horned owls. We heard a faint response from a screech owl. Good experience! One note: children need to be old enough to stay VERY quiet when outside.
My grandson and I went into the woods when we got back home and heard a screech owl very close to where we were standing, and a great horned off in the distance. We never would have known those calls if we hadn't gone on the 'prowl!'RELATED LINKS | ↑ top |
