Birding Basics: May 7
During spring, the woods and fields are peppered with the bright colors of returning songbirds. At our first meeting, we will discuss how to use binoculars and field guides, and where to observe these birds easily. We'll practice our new skills on birds visiting the feeders in our bird garden and then hit the trails in search of these 'jewels of the forest' while participating in a scavenger hunt!
Winged Wetland Wonders: June 4
This program will focus on wetlands, where unobstructed views are plentiful. A visit to our observation tower will provide panoramic views of a freshwater marsh, and, we hope, good looks at great blue herons, great egrets, redwinged blackbirds, and the many other birds that make their homes here. We'll finish off our morning with a rousing round of bird bingo.
