Each session includes a story, a themed activity, and plenty of time spent outdoors learning about nature. Each participant will receive a journal. We also offer a Tuesday afternoon series.

Grasshoppers: September 23
Join us as we visit the fields of the sanctuary in search of fascinating grasshoppers. We will learn about their bodies, life cycles, eating habits, and the ways they communicate.

Wiggly Worms: September 30
We will collect and observe worms from the forest and fields, take measurements, compare their lengths, and pretend to be wiggling worms. We'll make a take-home worm jar that can be used for tunnel and food observation.

Birds of Prey: October 7
Hawks and owls are amazing hunters, and we will learn from them how to use all of our senses to track our snack. Hearing, smell, and sight are very important to these birds. We'll soar around the sanctuary on homemade wings and practice our new skills.

Scurrying Squirrels: October 14
We will learn about squirrels and their cousins, the chipmunks, and discover how they are similar and how they differ. We will explore the sanctuary looking for squirrels and chipmunks, and find out what they are doing to prepare for the winter months ahead.

Lovely Leaves: October 21
Join us for an autumn leaf walk and discover that all leaves have unique features. Participate in a leaf scavenger hunt and make leaf rubbings to take home.

Bats: October 28
Halloween is right around the corner, so it seems fitting to learn more about these mysterious creatures of the night called bats. Join us as we learn what bats really look like, where they live, what they eat, and how they hunt in the dark.

Instructions and Directions: Meets in the Nature Center. Please dress for the weather since we will be outside most of the time. Limited to 8 adult/child pairs. The fee covers one adult/child pair.
