View the night sky through binoculars and telescopes. Harvard College Observatory representatives will be on hand to explain what you see. First 50 families to show up receive a telescope kit.
Co-sponsored by Harvard College Observatory, the Arnold Arboretum, and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s Park Science program.
The Arnold Arboretum provides an excellent viewing location to see the night sky like you’ve never seen it before in Boston. Learn to find your way around the sky, with and without telescopes. Observe the face of the moon and its craters, double stars, nebulae, and even the Andromeda Galaxy! Learn how to identify important constellations.
Participants can bring their own binoculars to observe the night sky. The first 50 families that show up will receive their own small telescope to take home.
Everyone can make wristwatch sundials and if interested, learn how to use the Observatory’s robotic telescopes. Participants are asked to wear sneakers and long pants. Participants must register by signing up at:
