On Sunday November 11th from 3:00-4:30PM, the Groton-based New England Valkyries equestrian vaulting team will host a free introductory workshop for both children and adults interested in trying the equestrian sport of vaulting.

The event will be held at Puritan Hill Farm, 121 Old Ayer Road, Groton, minutes from routes 495 and 2.

Vaulting is gymnastics and dance performed on the back of a moving horse. Vaulters perfect their moves on special barrels before performing on the horse.

The workshop offers an opportunity to try the sport without committing to a series of lessons. The hands-on workshop will begin with a demonstration by the team, then participants will break into groups to learn vaulting moves through a series of games and personal instruction. Refreshments will be provided.

Although there is no cost to participate, the nonprofit New England Valkyries will accept tax-deductible donations to support the team. ($35 is suggested.)

To register, contact team coach Rachel Markels Webber at rachelmarkelswebber@yahoo.com or 978-375-5885.
