Beautiful Butterflies: September 16 & 19
Come learn about our local butterflies. Become a butterfly as we learn about the life cycle and body parts of these creatures.
We'll take a walk through the sanctuary's gardens in search of eggs and caterpillars, and, using nets, we will explore a field to observe these winged marvels.
Frogs and Toads: September 23 & 26
Discover what croaks and peeps at the sanctuary. Together, we'll learn the difference between frogs and toads and their life cycles.
We will explore the sanctuary's forests and wetlands in search of frogs and toads and play a game to learn some of their calls.
Mammal Scavenger Hunt: September 30
We know mammals live on the sanctuary but we can't always see them. Let's put our tracking skills to the test and try to locate them by their tracks, scat, and chews on our scavenger hunt.
Welcome Fall: October 7 & 10
Fall can be just as colorful as spring. We'll go on an autumn leaf walk and observe how our trees are preparing for winter and how many types, sizes, and textures of leaves there are.
We'll make leaf rubbings from fallen leaves and take home a special leaf surprise.
Owls: October 14 & 17
Think you have to be around at night to see an owl? These birds can be mysterious and exciting to watch if you are lucky enough to see one in the wild.
We'll go on an owl prowl to look for owls that like to hunt during the day.
We'll look for pellets and whitewash to discover where the owls have been.
We'll even make our own edible owl pellets.
Yum, yum!
October Magic: October 21 & 24
It's almost Halloween, so come in your favorite costume and we will explore the hidden places of the sanctuary. We'll end our time together with a small party, and we will provide the treats.
We'll finish up our journals and you can take yours home to share with your family the exciting things you did at the sanctuary.
