The November moon is called the “beaver moon” because it traditionally signaled the time when beavers began to hole up in their lodges in preparation for the long winter ahead.While the fur trade was happening, this also signaled that the beavers had plush pelts for the impending cold.
On this moonlit evening, ranger Bob will share winter preparedness tips, and teach about building emergency shelters before a moonlit hike under the bare winter trees.
Chestnut Hill by Moonlight invites you to experience a magical full moon evening on the farm.
Celebrate community with your fellow evening hikers.
Marvel as day turns into night as the sun sets and the moon rises, then go on a guided hike by moonlight.
Make wishes as stars pop out one by one, and look for familiar constellations.
Campfires may be a part of the event, depending on weather and current drought conditions.
Your guide will be ranger Bob, a local scoutmaster and devoted member of the Trustees community.
This family-friendly event welcomes adults and children.
Please note, though we love dogs, they are not permitted at Chestnut Hill Farm.
