According to Native American folklore, the January full moon is known as the “Wolf Moon” because wolves would often be heard howling at night.See your breath in the frosty air as you channel your inner canine and howl at the moon.
Though we do not have wolves in this area, we do have their close relatives- coyotes!
Learn to track these wily animals as well as their wild neighbors such as skunks, squirrels, and raccoons.
Like a wolf hunting at night, you will then prowl through our woodlands under the light of the full moon.
Chestnut Hill by Moonlight invites you to experience a magical full moon evening on the farm.
Celebrate community with your fellow evening hikers.
Marvel as day turns into night as the sun sets and the moon rises, then go on a guided hike by moonlight.
Make wishes as stars pop out one by one, and look for familiar constellations.
Campfires may be a part of the event, depending on weather and current drought conditions.
Your guide will be ranger Bob, a local scoutmaster and devoted member of the Trustees community.
This family-friendly event welcomes adults and children.
Please note, though we love dogs, they are not permitted at Chestnut Hill Farm.
